Yoga can help alleviate pain and injury while building strength and flexibility.
As a yoga instructor for more than 15 years, I've had the privilege of introducing the practice of yoga to men, as well as women, and have witnessed firsthand the benefits of yoga for men. While everyone has their own personal reason for doing yoga, often men find their way to yoga for two reasons:
- to heal injuries and alleviate pain—particularly in the back, knees and hips
- to improve their sports performance
With a regular yoga routine, men discover that yoga helps with pain and injury while building strength and flexibility! Since yoga uses controlled movements, expert alignment, bio-mechanics, and breath to open the body efficiently, the risk of injury is minimized.
Safety and alignment are emphasized.
Yoga demands that you do not push beyond what you are capable of doing safely. Attention to the breath along with conscious movement help prevent pushing past your limits and allows your body to heal and rebuild. There's always a modification or variation, allowing you to work within your framework while still progressing and challenging yourself.
Yoga for men is the best way to cross train different muscle groups and help prevent and alleviate pain. It keeps your body fit, flexible and strong.
